MCC Community Group
We are a mixed adult group that meets about twice a month for fellowship. We
enjoy potlucks, outdoor activities (mostly summer) and outings to concerts,
plays, museums and historical sites. We also sponsor the New Year’s Eve
progressive dinner. Just come when an activity appeals to you. All ages are
invited to our summer outdoor activities.
MCC Film Group
Every Third Friday of the Month
Bring a snack to pass. Contact the church office
A group of MCC members gets together the 3rd Friday of each month to watch a film and then
discuss its content. Movies we have watched together have included: Strangers in
Good Company, Everybody’s Fine, The Last Temptation of Christ, Being There,
Places in the Heart, Babette’s Feast and The Fisher King, and many more. The
dates and locations of some films are yet to be determined. Film Group meets
during the school year. Lois Komai, Coordinator.
Friday February 17 at 7:00pm to watch "I'll see you in my Dreams" starring
Blyth Danner, Sam Elliot, and Martin Starr. Host? TBA.
Meditation Monday for MCC Friends
Begin your week with balance and peace of mind. We welcome all who’d like to
join us in the Covenant Room, 5:30-6:30pm each Monday. We begin by listening
to a brief “dharma talk” that explores different aspects of a meditation
practice, then sit in mindfulness for about 20 minutes. Afterwards we may
talk about our experiences (or not). Wear comfortable clothes and bring a
pillow(s) or blanket. Namaste! Contact: Bob Sessions, 628-8610.
Every First Tuesday of the Month
Every year the MCC Quilters create warm
and cheerful quilts to send to Lutheran World Relief. They meet on the first Tuesday
of each month from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm with a coffee and lunch break for
great fellowship. They are grateful for the support of the MCC members who
drop off their clean castoff fabrics, sheets, curtains, tablecloths, etc.
When it's spring cleaning or downsizing time we hope you will remember the
ongoing need the MCC Quilters have for your castoff sheets, curtains,
tablecloths and fabric in general. (The only fabrics we cannot use are
T-shirt knits, terrycloth, slippery dress goods and fiberglass.) All we ask
is that the goods are clean and that you deposit them in the closet in the
hallway that leads to the stairway on the lower level at church. We will
also take spools of thread.
We are in our 20th year of creating quilts for
Lutheran World Relief and have shipped off over 3,000 quilts to date. But it
would not have been possible without the remarkable generosity of MCC
members' donation of beautiful and still-useful material. THANK YOU. If you
think you might want to be part of this quilting team, just give me a call:
Hildy McGown at 238-8670.
Over 55 Group Pot Luck
The 55+ group will meet Wednesday, Feb. 22 at
noon, with a potluck at church. The hosts is Jean Oliverson and program will
be Dobbin McNatt’s journey on the Appalachian Trail. If you
need more information, contact Virginia Stumbo, Jan Robertson or Pat Eddings.
9:00 AM Sunday Adult Discussion
All are welcome to attend Adult Discussion (formerly “Parent Hour”) the
third Sunday of the month in the downstairs area. Anyone with interest in
sharing the challenges and occasional triumphs of parenting is invited-- the
group is accepting, and always has a robust discussion. Anyone with a
commitment to our youth, regardless of parental status, is encouraged to
Join the Koffee Klatsch
What is a coffee klatsch? “A social occasion
where people have conversations about unimportant things.” OR “A social
gathering for informal conversation where coffee is served.” OR “A casual
social gathering for coffee and conversation.” Common themes abound: it is
social, informal, interactive and coffee is the prize. The MCC Personnel
committee and Leadership Team have decided to have volunteers make coffee.
We are looking for 8-10 members to start the coffee at 8:30 AM on Sunday and
clean up following the services. You will be given instructions on how to
brew the coffee. A schedule will be maintained and shared with members
making coffee. This is a great opportunity for groups, families or a couple
of friends to “Klatsch” and catch up. If you are interested, please contact
Jean Einerson. firstname.lastname@example.org 831-8394
