Sunday School News

Sunday School November 25
We will not be having “traditional” Sunday School downstairs this week. We encourage you to explore the Farmer’s Market and Gratitude Stations upstairs. While you’re at it, grab some brunch at 9am or 11am!

Youth instrumentalists are reminded to bring their instrument to church to practice with Roanna:
9am – Nicholas, Megan, Simon, Martha, Tyler M, Muriel, Emilia
9:30am – Hannah, Riley, Ben, Sam S
Heads’ up for the next few weeks:
Sat, December 1: 1-3pm Drew Hart Event with Childcare!
Sat, December 15: 10am-noon Pageant Rehearsal
Sun, December 16: 10am Youth-Led Worship and Pageant

Sunday School Homework??
Recently, Sybil Klatt asked kiddos and parents for some sign language "homework". While Beth Falkos will be helping with some American Sign Language for the Christmas program, we encourage kids and parents to discover some of the words on their own before Sunday:
-- Peace or Peace on Earth -- Goodwill or Happiness -- Time
-- Joy -- Love -- Sing --Together

Who is interested in playing their instrument for the Youth Led Worship on December 16?
Beginners – Advanced youth players equally welcome!
Contact Roanna Brazier, if you are interested -

We will begin distributing the Big Read Books!
Parents of 3rd-6th Graders – please read the reviews and let me know if you have a preference about which book your child receives as you know your child’s maturity the best. They will be distributed in early November.
Birth – 2nd graders will receive The Nativity by Julie Vivas
3rd-4th graders – The Watsons Go to Birmingham by C P Curtis or Nativity

5th-6th graders - Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson or Watsons…

NOTE TO PARENTS of Children over 5 years old
We need to ask that children over 5 years old stay upstairs during worship. We understand that some children may need to take a break during worship, but please stay upstairs. It is very disruptive to the children in the nursery to see “big kids” playing downstairs. Also, it is a safety concern to have children playing downstairs unsupervised.

Children Are Good Stewards, Too!
As you consider your own volunteer engagements at MCC, please remember your children and sign then up for worship “ministries” in the Online Scheduler program!

Here are some roles they might be successful with:
- Communion Distribution (there’s a special “Youth and Child” listing for Advent and MCC)
- Door Greeters (great family job!)
- Candle Lighter & Prayer Bell Ringer
- Reader
- Usher
- Ring to Worship
- Nursery Assistant
- Chime Choir – older children & teens
- Musician – it is GREAT for budding musicians to play/sing alongside adult musicians! We’ll connect them as they are able.
- James’ Buddy (older children can help James follow along with the service)
- Teens might consider delivering the Children’s Message

We all know what amazing helpers children can be – they LOVE having jobs! Let’s engage them and help them feel important and useful during worship.
