Mission Statement:
The mission of the MCC
Sunday School ministry is to nurture the Christian faith development of our
children in the context of a welcoming community, honoring Christ's call to:
• create awareness of God's presence and work in the world
• to value the uniqueness of all individuals
• strengthen the relationship among individuals, family, church and
community
• explore and teach God's work through study, worship and service
• challenge and encourage living out the Christian faith in daily life as
disciples of Christ
• embrace diversity in the interpretation and expressions of faith
We welcome children of all ages to be a part of our Sunday School program.
Classes start with Preschool (ages 2 and 3) through High School, meeting
from 9 am to 10 am, September through May. Children are grouped according to
age/grade with two or more teachers serving to lead each class.
Youth
Education Committee
This committee, along with the Interim Director for Children and Family
Ministries, oversees the Sunday School program at MCC, providing an
infrastructure to support teachers and students. Our goal is to facilitate
and create a setting in which the mission of the Sunday School ministry can
be met.
Tasks include recruiting Sunday School teachers, determining class structure
and size, creating the Sunday School schedule for the year, acting as
shepherds during Sunday School to provide support for teachers, and
purchasing supplies from crayons to curricula.
Through the work of the Youth Education Committee, connections are
strengthened between the children of the congregation, the worship service,
the teachers, and the home.
The Youth Education Committee coordinates the children's Christmas service,
working with Sunday School teachers and the worship committee to create a
service in which the children participate. On behalf of the MCC, the
Committee also coordinates Teacher Recognition Sunday (aka Sundae Sunday),
organizing a sundae potluck, including the children in the service and
purchasing thank you gifts for the Sunday School teachers.
Additionally, the Committee organizes intergenerational activities. These
are Sundays throughout the year during which children of all ages join
together during Sunday School to work on such service projects as making
Valentine's for Vets, working outside on the church grounds, and the St.
Nick's workshop.

baptismal/dedication dates to: Sarah Zutz, email:smzutz16@gmail.com. Thank

Nurturing
Soil and Soul
Madison Christian Community shares seven acres of land for private gardening
plots and growing vegetables for the Lussier Community Center Food Pantry.
Each summer, for eight weeks, children from the Lussier Community Center
attend a camp where they learn gardening skills and cook delicious, healthy
snacks with garden produce. To learn more about the children’s garden

Parish Protection
The Parish Protection Advisory Group oversees our Parish Protection Program
by ensuring that all adults who are working with children and youth in the
MCC are screened and provided with an orientation to our program. We are
pleased with the knowledge that every year more MCC members are made aware
of this program and are encouraged to be advocates for child safety in not
only the MCC but in all of our varied communities.
